Ashland May Raise Business License Fees

Council members discussed raising business license fees at last week’s board meeting. The proposed increase of $10 would raise license fees from $15 to $25.

Most council members were against raising the license fees as Alderwoman Barb Henke-Christopher said, quoted in the Boone County Journal, “I don’t think we should raise it. It’s a nominal amount and a small part of our budget, even if we were to double it. It’d just be an extra cost to the businessperson.”

Town officials have not yet reached a final decision.
