Cobb Police Arrest Woman for Buying Gold without a Business License

February 23, 2012

Undercover agents have been on the lookout for unscrupulous individuals that may be involved in the purchase and sale of criminally acquired precious metals. The Cobb, GA precious metals license is largely used to legalize the sale of gold and silver attained through honest means.

Registered vendors much keep copies of photo ID as well as identifying information from the individuals who have sold them precious metals, in order to qualify for the Cobb, GA business license.

MDJ Online reports that “Norma Macias of Duluth bought 1.1 ounces of gold from undercover deputies at Brito Supermarket 5 off South Cobb Drive in Marietta without asking to see their photo identification or recording the purchase properly.”

Cobb officers arrested Macias and charged her for the purchase of gold without a precious metals license. She was later released on a $5,000 bond.
