City of Harrison Business License Program Begins June 1, 2011

On February 10, 2011 the Harrison City Council voted on an ordinance to require the filing of business licenses by all merchants operating businesses in Harrison City.

As mentioned in the ordinance No. 1337, “whereas, the City of Harrison has no system to identify, classify, or quantify businesses or their owners doing business within the city limits. The present City Council deems it to be a valuable record to identify, classify, quantify, protect, and assist the businesses operating in the City.”

Council members lowered the initially proposed licensing fee to $25.00 for filing electronically and $35.00 for paper filing. License renewals will cost $15.00 for filing online and $20.00 for using paper forms.

Anyone neglecting to file for the business license can be punished with fines up to $1,000.00
