Investigation Launched over Unlicensed Albuquerque Business

New Mexico Environment Department has launched an investigation into a biofuels company that has been operating in a residential area without a New Mexico business license.

A resident reported the company to Target 7 complaining of the terrible smell emanating from the company’s property. When a Target 7 reporter contacted the county to learn more about the business, they were told that the company did not have a business license and they weren’t allowed to conduct this type of operation in a residential area.

“I really do not understand how they’re getting away with this. I don’t,” Sue Sheets, the neighbor who reported the company to Target 7, said.

The county officials gave the biofuels company until July 25, to submit the proper paperwork for obtaining a Bernalillo business license and a special zoning permit. If the county doesn’t receive the paperwork in time, they will take the company to court.
