Kansas City Mayor Institutes Committee to Help with Business Licensing Process

Mayor Sly James instituted a committee to help small businesses flourish in the City of Kansas. Amongst other tasks, the committee will ease the licensing procedure for small businesses.

Licensing a business can oftentimes be a complicated process as businesses must ensure compliance on a state, county and city level. The unique requirements for different localities can be confusing. By opening up a special committee to help business owners, Mayor James is trying to avoid this and instead encourage businesses to open in Kansas City.

“Great cities are built on a solid business climate that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Councilman Taylor as quoted by The Monitor. “We want to create this type of environment to not only benefit the business community, but the long-term health of the city.”

The Mayor asked Sixth District Councilman Scott Taylor to head the committee.
