It’s Time for Moreno Valley Businesses to come into Compliance

Any local unlicensed business will be able to come into compliance with Moreno Valley, CA business license regulations without owing up to past penalties and fines.

Council members approved a measure on Tuesday that created a business license amnesty program. The program will run for four months until the end of January, 2012.

The Press-Enterprise reports that Oscar Valdepena, the leader of the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce has discovered countless local unlicensed businesses. While most business owners are ready to come into compliance with city regulations, fear of past penalties and fines have kept them back from doing so.

“For example, a business late in paying one month would owe a 10 percent penalty and one percent interest, two months would be a 25 percent penalty and 2 percent interest, three months would be a 50 percent penalty and 3 percent interest and 4 months would be 100 percent penalty and 4 percent interest ... and so on.”

With the amnesty program business owners can now apply for a Moreno Valley business license and only pay licensing fees for the past three years.
