Morgan County Speeds Temporary Use Permit Process

In an effort to ease the licensing process for local business, county officials added an amendment to the Morgan, UT temporary use permit ordinance last week.

Deanne Winterton describes the new amendment in the Standard Examiner, “The amendment allows the zoning administrator to route the application to the appropriate county agency, such as the county engineer, sheriff or fire department, for approvals. Applicants may be directed to apply for a business license as well.”

With the new system in place, businesses will be able to get a temporary use permit in 2 weeks instead of the previous 2 month process.

"If we can't make a decision in two weeks, we are not doing our job very well," Grant Crowell, director of Morgan's planning and development services department said. "We are trying to reduce the time as much as possible."

Business owners are urged to include as much information as possible in the original application in order to quicken the application procedure.
