Oxnard Police Arrest 2 for Operating a Business without a License

February 29, 2012

Fawzi Hamed, the owner of Fredy del Oro, and his employee, Laura Elvira Martinez, were arrested last week by local police for operating a shop that buys and sells gold and jewelry without obtaining the requisite Oxnard, CA business license.

The type of business conducted in Fredy del Oro would necessitate the purchase of an Oxnard second-hand business license. In order to qualify for the second-hand license, business owners have to abide by specific city regulations such as keeping a proper database of goods purchased.

Though following these regulations may involve more time and cost to business owners, they are imperative to the work of law-enforcing officials for use in tracking stolen goods.

Ventura Edhat reports that “The sting operation occurred as a result of complaints from business owners who had knowledge that Hamed was operating the business without a license.”

Business license compliance is mandatory on national, federal and local levels. Operating without proper state, county and city business licenses can cost business owners thousands in fines and penalties as well as needless aggravation and problems. Business owners are urged to take advantage of Business Licenses’ "Business License Compliance Package™"  which explains exactly which licenses, permits, and tax registrations are required for your business, ensuring license compliance on every level.
