Palo Alto Police Arrest Unlicensed Tennis Instructor

Police arrested Song Jian Wu last week for teaching a tennis class without acquiring the necessary Palo Alto, CA business permit.

A tennis player reported Wu to the police complaining that Wu’s class had taken over the whole tennis court area in Mitchel Park. Upon investigating the complaint, police discovered that the tennis instructor had committed a greater offense than occupying all available tennis courts; he had not obtained the necessary business licenses to legalize his classes.

Patch reporter, Banks Albach, writes that Wu tried avoiding charges associated with operating without a business license by giving a false name and lying about his what he was doing.

Defying warnings by police inspectors, Wu continued teaching children without about obtaining the necessary Palo Alto, CA business license. However, he was stopped shortly after the above incident when a different tennis player filed a similar complaint and police came down again. This time Wu left his students alone in the park and quickly made his escape.

When investigators finally caught up with Wu his charges had morphed from operating without a license, to giving false information to police officers, ending with child endangerment.
