Stricter Measures Enacted to Ensure Compliance to Park City Business License Laws

In a recent city council meeting, town board members clarified the nuances of Park City, Illinois business license laws and set penalties to those who don’t file their licenses in time. This effort has been made as a means to get individuals who have been avoiding payments of license fees to comply with the city ordinances.

News-Sun quotes Mayor Steve Pannell saying “This ordinance revision now makes it clear that every owner of property located in a commercial or industrial zone, or a home occupation located within a residential zone, must obtain an annual business license and pay the prescribed fee.”

The $125.00 fee for annual license renewals is due each year on May 1.

Council members set down late fees to $135.00 for a license filed within the first month after license filing due-date and $150.00 for a license filed within the second month after the filing due-date.

If filed after this time limit, the city will determine how much interest has incurred in late-fee penalties.
