Peddlers Now Required to Buy Lavonia Business License

City council members unanimously voted to pass an ordinance that obligates all door-to-door vendors to purchase a Lavonia business license in addition to the Franklin County occupational permit already required of them. The license costs $75.

In order to qualify for the license would-be peddlers have to undergo a background check and get the amount of time they’d like to peddle their wares and the area they’d like to peddle in, approved by city officials.

Independent Mail reports that “City manager Gary Fesperman said concerns about the legitimacy of recent door-to-door salesmen in the town and surrounding counties prompted the new law.”

Anyone caught peddling wares door-to-door without the required peddler’s license will be ordered to leave the city.

Since the ordinance goes into effect immediately, peddlers are urged to come into compliance as soon as possible. Visit http://www.businesslicenses.com/Licenses/GA/Franklin/Lavonia-1311945460/ to purchase your Lavonia peddler’s license online.
