Sandy Springs Offers to Waive $75,000 in Business License Fees to Unknown Potential Business Resident

City council members unanimously voted to waive $75,000 or two-years worth of Sandy Springs business license fees, in addition to other monetary grants, as an incentive to an unknown international billionaire company if they transfer their U.S. place of operations to their city.

The unidentified business is seeking to invest $8.3 million in developing a place to house their business. This in addition to the projected $356,000 annual payment of property taxes by the company would greatly help boost the economic level of the city. Moreover, the opening of this business is estimated to create close to 300 new jobs.

Although council members unanimously approved the business license grant, not all city officials are in favor of the magnanimous gesture.

Neighbor Newspapers reports, “Mayor Eva Galambos said she opposed offering advantages to newcomers when established businesses like Newell Rubbermaid did not ask for, or receive, financial assistance with expansion plans.”
