South Bend to File Lawsuit against Unlicensed Business

South Bend Assistant City Attorney Ann-Carol Nash says that the city will file a lawsuit against the owner of Wayne's Tree Service who had kept his business open despite the fact that the city had revoked his business license.

“Originally the owners of the business were going to appeal the license revocation,” said Nash, quoted by WNDU. “After further discussion with their attorney they decided it would be better to try to sell the business.”

Instead of selling the business, Wayne’s employees continued with their work incognizant that their employer wasn’t licensed and their work illegal. A few days later an operator of one of Wayne’s bucket trucks was involved in an accident that left a man slightly injured. The city responded by banning Wayne’s Tree Service from operating in South Bend and promising to file a lawsuit against them.
