Sunbury Waives Business License Fees

Potential entrepreneurs often find starting a new business a daunting task. The myriad number of details involved in the setup combined with a need for funds to launch the enterprise often discourages even the toughest individuals.

Sunbury Mayor, Mayor David Persing, is working on ways to ease the startup process for new businesses. As part of his efforts, he has convinced council members to vote on a program that would waive Sunbury, PA business license fees for a certain period of time.

The program would run for 90 days from October 17 through January 16. During that time period, anyone can open a new business without applying for a local business license. If the business venture succeeds, the individual can then apply for a regular Sunbury business license and pay the $100 fee.

Daily Item quotes Mayor Persing having said, “At that time, the business would need to be established through the proper channels. I could see a few people trying a small business just to see if there is any interest. If there is any success, then hopefully the property owner and the new business could establish a long-term lease.”
