Unlicensed Pizza Joint Shut Down in Chicago
January 24, 2012
The City of Chicago shut down Pie Hole Pizza Joint for operating without a current Chicago, IL business license. The $600 business license could not be filed because the pizza store was behind in payment of sales tax and the city does not renew licenses for a business that is delinquent or even late in paying.
Pie Hole has been consistently 3 months behind in paying sales tax since their move to their current Broadway location last year.
Chicago.GoPride reports that along with the owed sales tax charges, the city has placed a monthly $750 fine on the pizza joint for operating without the annual $600 business license.
Owner Doug Brandt says that the closure was inevitable with the constant pile up of late fees and charges. He does however hope that with time he will be able to pay up the accumulated debts and reopen for business.
The fees and penalties associated unlicensed businesses can cause financial strain to any business. To avoid unnecessary issues with unlicensed branches, and the fines associated with those, large businesses can purchase the Business License Compliance Package™. The online "Business License Compliance Package™" tells you exactly which licenses, permits, and tax registrations are required for your business ensuring compliance on every government level!
