East Chicago Business License Fee Increases Lower than Originally Reported

March 14, 2012

A change in council membership has bought about a change much welcomed by city businesses. At a council meeting last week, the new group of councilors chose to lower the East Chicago, IL business license fee increases that had been passed by the previous council group last year.

The three new members to the city council feel that the increases to licensing fees voted on last year would hurt local businesses who are already struggling with an unprofitable ratio of lower income and increased costs in running their businesses.

The council did agree that higher charges for obtaining local business licenses were in order.  As The NWI Times reports, “the increases were designed to bring East Chicago fees in line with neighboring communities, and to cover rising costs of inspections and code enforcement.”

As such council members approved reduced increases to business license fees. For example taverns’ business license fees would now be increased from $25 to $200 instead of being increased to $500.

Business license changes occur in different localities each day. Large businesses can save the time and effort it would take to uncover changes in each branch location by outsourcing business license management to licensing experts. Business Licenses’ Outsourced Business License Management Service allows big businesses to outsource business license filing, maintenance and renewal for all their required business licenses & permits with every licensing authority in the U.S.
