Hanover Park to Increase Pawnbroker Business License Fees

In an effort to maintain control over stolen items in Hanover Park, police officials will begin training owners of second-hand shops to keep record of all items sold in a computer system. To finance the training costs, village officials will increase pawnbroker business license fees.

According to The Daily Herald, many pawnbrokers have kept written records of their merchandise, “which police said made investigations into the disposal of stolen property less efficient.”

The new computer database will make tracking stolen items much easier and less time consuming.
