Oceanside may Cut Business License Administrative Fees

September 14, 2011

Since 2003, Oceanside has charged registering businesses a business license tax and an administrative fee for processing paperwork. The business license tax is based on the gross income of each company, of which the city charges a minimum of $50 on top of the $50 flat rate administrative fee.

Complaints by local business owners about the high costs in obtaining Oceanside, CA business licenses have sparked discussion by community leaders on how to make the city a more business friendly place.

North Country Times reports that The Economic Development Commission proposed a plan that would cut the flat rate administrative fees significantly. "We feel this is a win-win for the businesses and a win-win for positive business development," said city financial services director Teri Ferro.

Council members would have to approve of this measure before it will be enacted. City officials have decided not to suggest changing the business license tax as that would be subject to public approval and would involve a more difficult procedure to implement.

Business license changes occur in different localities each day. Large businesses can save the time and effort it would take to uncover changes in each branch location by outsourcing business license management to licensing experts. Business Licenses’ Outsourced Business License Management Service allows big businesses to outsource business license filing, maintenance and renewal for all the required business licenses & permits with every licensing authority in the U.S.
