Richmond Police Arrest Man for Lying on Business License Application

February 14, 2012

Patrick Walton, the owner of Magic City Club, was arrested last Wednesday by county police for lying on his Richmond County business license application. Walton filed a mercantile business license, giving false information about his ownership of a business that is non-existant, when in reality he was operating a teen club.

As WRDW reports, “Investigators say he lied on his license, saying his business was a mercantile business when he was really operating a club. Reports say Walton deceived the commission and the fire department in writing and on government documents.

Walton is already in trouble with the law as the shooting of a neighborhood teen occurred shortly after his attending a party at Walton’s Magic City.

Business license compliance is mandatory on national, federal and local levels. Operating without proper state, county and city business licenses can cost business owners thousands in fines and penalties as well as needless aggravation and problems. Business owners are urged to take advantage of Business Licenses’ "Business License Compliance Package™"  which explains exactly which licenses, permits, and tax registrations are required for your business, ensuring license compliance on every level.
