Vadnais Heights Council Fines Unlicensed Business

Complaints by Labore Road residents of unsightly equipment on a neighboring property prompted an investigation by city officials. They discovered that an outside landscaping business had been storing equipment on a local property for over 15 years without obtaining the necessary Vadnais Heights, MN business license and complying with licensing regulations.

The owner of the property’s son, Patrick Ready, had been storing landscaping apparatus in the rear of his parents’ property. Patrick did not think it was necessary to obtain a Vadnais Heights business license as his business was located elsewhere.

After discussing the case, council members decided to grant Ready Landscaping a special use permit at the cost of $1,000 to legalize Ready’s storage of his equipment. Additionally, Ready will have to use his landscaping skills to plant trees and install fences to block neighboring views of his storage.

Vadnais Heights Press reports, “In addition to the $1,000 special use permit fee, the council required Ready pay $400 to compensate for some of the license fees he should have paid over the years.”

Ready will have to renew his business license annually and the property will be subject to inspections by city officers.
