Eight Unlicensed Salespeople Arrested in Summit County

Eight African-American salespeople were arrested in Jeremy Ranch last week for neglecting to obtain both Park City, UT business licenses and Summit County, UT business licenses.

The five men and three women work for Advanage Diversified Products, an offshoot of Austin Diversified Products, Inc. that sells ADVANAGE Wonder Cleaners.

A resident’s complaint of aggressiveness displayed by a salesperson brought county police to the neighborhood. Police officers arrested only eight of the nine salespeople after discovering that none of them were licensed to do business in the area.

The African-Americans argue that the arrests were racially inclined as their co-worker who is white claims that a police officer warned her of the arrests without actually checking her credentials and detaining her.

Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds wrote off that claim as there is no record of the ninth salesperson being seen by police officers.

Deseret News reports that selling goods without a Summit solicitors license is “a class B misdemeanor punishable by six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.”

Surprisingly, after being released on $100 bail, the salespeople moved on to Minnesota to try to market their products there.
