Horry County to Offer Business License Fee Incentives

Creating a business friendly environment was in the forefront of their minds when county officials signed a contract with Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corp. last week. Amongst other ideas given, the consulting group suggested offering Horry business license fee incentives to new or expanding businesses.

Adva Saldinger describes the business license incentive suggestions in The Sun News. “The incentive plan would offer businesses up to $1,500 per job created in closing incentives that could be used to offset training, site work, relocation and business license costs. To qualify, a company would have to bring at least 35 jobs, invest a minimum of $2.5 million in the county and pay all employees at least the average county wage and offer health benefits.”

County officials hope the incentives offered will bring in an estimated 500 new jobs to the region within the next 18 months. Each job is estimated to bring in approximately $3,000 in tax revenue, which would increase county funds by roughly $1.5 million in the next 2 years.
