Long Branch may Increase Business License Regulations
Getting a Long Branch, NJ mercantile license may get a bit more complicated and expensive. Health officials have suggested a step-up in police review of every applicant before granting a city business license.
Ninety percent of business license applicants are law-abiding, hard-working individuals who are looking to earn an honest living. To protect themselves of the unscrupulous ten percent, the Long Branch Department of Health has suggested contracting with MorphoTrak to aid in background checks of business license applicants.

Kenny Walter reports for Atlanticville that if the procedure would be instituted, “only the police department receives specifics on background checks and the City Council and other city departments just see whether or not the application was approved.”
