Anniston Mayor wants to Increase Business License Fees

Mayor Gene Robinson will propose increasing Anniston business license fees at the August council meeting as a way of helping the city augment its budget revenue.

The city has been affected by the economic downturn and is looking to recover some of its lost income. “We’ve gone through budget cuts the last three or four years and we’re really at a point where we’re at close to a break-even,” Finance Director Danny McCullars said, quoted in The Anniston Star.

Although Council members have rejected past proposals to increase business license fees, the mayor will again suggest business license fee changes this year.
