Georgia Police Shut Down Girls’ Lemonade Stand for being Unlicensed

Three teenagers who had opened a lemonade stand as a way of raising money for a trip to a water park were forced to shut down because they failed to obtain a Midway business license.

In a scenario similar to the Montgomery instance last month where kids were fined for operating a lemonade stand without a business license, see earlier post, Georgia police now also closed down an unlicensed lemonade stand run by teenagers.

The cost for obtaining the licenses and permits necessary to run the lemonade stand in Midway is $50 a day or $180 for the year.

According to San Francisco Chronicle, in addition to not having the necessary business licenses and permits to run a vendors operation, “Midway Police Chief Kelly Morningstar says police also didn't know how the lemonade was made, who made it or what was in it.”
