Public Hearing to be Held Regarding Possible Salt Lake City Business License Increases

Salt Lake City residents can attend a public hearing on June 7 to voice their opinions regarding possible increases to business license fees. If approved, the licensing fee changes can go into effect as early as September 1, 2011.

The proposed fee increase of 10% is based on the findings of a study done in February and March to compare Salt Lake’s fees to those of neighboring communities. As pointed out on the city’s website, “the survey revealed that the overall average of business license fees in these other communities was 9.75% higher than the fees charged by Salt Lake City.”

Increased fees are expected to bring in an additional $416,667.00 in city revenue.
