Take Advantage of Moreno Valley’s Business License Amnesty Program

January 11, 2012

Moreno Valley’s business license amnesty program expires at the end of this month. The program, which had been aimed at getting unlicensed businesses to come into compliance has worked up to a point.

The Press Enterprise reports, “Since the city’s business license amnesty program started Sept. 14, 42 small businesses, such as hair salons and bakeries, have participated. Only about half of them had been out of compliance and owed the tax plus penalties and interest, according to Brooke McKinney, the city’s treasury operations division manager.”

Because many of the businesses applying for Moreno Valley, CA business licenses were start-up businesses, the program was deemed at not being ‘wildly successful.’

The city has no plans of instituting a similar program at the end of this year so as not to provide incompliant businesses with a back-up plan.
