Two Arrested in Perry for Selling Alcohol without a Business License

February 6, 2012

Numerous complaints about illegal activity taking place at a home on Oldfield Lane in Perry prompted a police investigation that led to the arrest of Grover Jackson and Carolyn Jones McCants. The two were charged with selling alcohol without obtaining a Perry, GA business license.

Jackson and McCants were selling alcohol from a makeshift bar built next to a private home. Neighboring residents complained about the noise and disorderly conduct on the premises. Since Jackson has a history for previous attempts at operating unlicensed bars, the city was quick to issue the search warrant that led to his arrest.

As Macon.com quotes Perry Police Capt. Heath Dykes having said, “Jackson was arrested in 2010 for the same charge, as well as selling alcohol on Sunday and selling within 100 yards of a church.”

At the time of the arrest, Perry police officers confiscated the alcohol and liquor remaining in the bar as well as all of the ready cash.
