Westborough Selectmen Reinstitute Mobile Owner’s Business License

Westborough selectmen suspended the Class II Used Car Dealer's License from Westborough Mobil Station owner Jack Azar last month. A routine police inspection of the premises had found the mobile station to be in violation of its licensing requirements.

The Class II Used Car Dealer's license allows for only 6 unregistered vehicles to be on premises at any given time. Police Lieutenant Robert Fryer found 9 unregistered vehicles when inspecting the station this past February.

Joe Gallini, the used car dealership manager explained at the public hearing held to discuss the mobile station’s business license, that 2 of the unregistered vehicles belonged to a different used-car dealer and were just receiving service at Azar’s mobile station. A third vehicle belonged to a local resident who had taken off the plates to use for a different vehicle. As such, the Westborough Mobile Station had only 6 of its own unregistered vehicles and had been conformed to licensing requirements.

After numerous public hearings and discussions regarding the mobile stations past and future compliance to licensing requirements, repeated inspections of the mobile station’s property, and the selectmen’s viewing of the company record books, the board decided they would reinstitute the mobile station’s business license.

As Westborough Chief of Police Alan Gordon said, quoted in The Daily Westborough, “I did return their license to them last Friday and made sure they understood that what they have over there now is what we expect to see in the future … if they're able to keep their license."
