Food Charity Operating with Incorrect Business License for 13 Years

January 18, 2012

When the director of The Cooperative Care Center of Pueblo went to renew the food charity’s annual Pueblo, CO business license, he was told that the business license they’ve received for the past 13 years isn’t the correct one that must be filed for their food distribution operation.

The Chieftain quotes Marcie Reynolds, executive director of the Cooperative Care Center having said, "When we went to renew our business license with the city we found out that we did not actually have a license for food distribution.  We've been renewing our license for 13 years and we didn't know until this year that we weren't zoned for food distribution."

The city issued the food charity a temporary business license that will be good until the end of the month. The Cooperative Care Center will then cease operations until they move to their new facility which is in a place that is zoned for food distribution and qualified for the food distributor business license.
